Zach and Jennie’s March wedding in Cedar Rapids, IA!

In the Bible, the book of Genesis refers to Eve being Adam’s helper, or “completer”.  I couldn’t think of a better way to describe Zach and Jennie’s relationship than that they complete each other. Zach is laid back and steady, while Jennie is detailed and driven.  Together, though, they are one. Complete. Together they will go further than their individual strengths would take them, and they are eager to follow God wherever he leads them. It’s exciting to see posts on their Facebook pages that their passports are updated, extra thick, and they are ready! I’m so inspired by their willingness to serve the world, and know that they will make a difference wherever they end up.

One of the other great indicators of a solid relationship is the supporting cast… who you align yourselves with. Both Zach and Jennie have a great lineup of friends that encourage them as a couple and bring out the best in them. I enjoyed listening to the prayers of their friends before the wedding began. They longed to see Zach and Jennie do great things with their lives and their marriage and spoke of how they were always willing to serve their friends… even just to pray with them.

Congratulations, Zach and Jennie! You are an inspiration to me and Jodi, and we know God will do great things through you!

Their Motion video is a little over 13 minutes long, so grab a coffee for this one…

An amazing October wedding, outdoors at one of the great wedding venues in Eastern Iowa.

Happy New Year!

Weston and Emily live in New York, but made their way back to Iowa along with their lovable pooch Charlie, for an incredible October wedding.  From start to finish, everything seemed scripted to tell the story of their lives and their love for each other, from the details in the barn, to their personal and unique vows they shared with each other. You can check it all out in the Motion Picture below the images!

Many thanks to Shannon Murphey at The Celebration Farm for helping to make this day memorable for Wes and Emily, and being an amazing host.

We are huge fans of Adam and Nicole, and you’ll see them once or twice more on the blog in the next month or so. But we were waiting until after their wedding to post the Motion Picture from their engagement session, because I didn’t have it finished yet they wanted it shown at their reception, and we didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Well, Adam and Nicole were married last weekend, so here’s their video shot back in March when we went to California for their engagement session, and then drove home to Iowa with them. You can read more about that trip here: Cross Country Photo Shoot. But for now, here’s the Motion Picture of their Engagement Session, and we hope you like it!

Have a great weekend!

Jodi and I were walking down the hallways of the Coralville Marriott Hotel and Convention Center looking for the ballroom where Azar and Amir’s wedding was to be held. The wedding was supposed to be outside, but the weather wasn’t cooperating, so we weren’t sure which room they had moved it to. Then, from a few rooms away, we heard Persian music thumping through the speakers and knew we were getting close! We’ve had the honor of working at a few Persian weddings the past couple of years and we love the uniqueness, symbolism, and cultural references that they always entail. International weddings always make me wish I knew another language.

Azar and Amir are two of the most beautiful people you will ever meet, and a pleasure to photograph. The wedding was gorgeous, the dance was lively, and we had a blast! Congratulations Azar and Amir… we wish you all the best as you begin this new stage of life!

Brandi and Lynn are two of the most hospitable, kind people you could ever be around! Not only was their wedding amazing, they treated us way better than they would have had to! We loved their downhome, southern style wedding, and can’t wait to pay them another visit in the future.

Lynn and Brandi’s wedding was a delight to photograph! From the moments of getting ready, to the tears in Lynn’s eyes as he saw his bride for the first time, to the celebration at the end of the evening, the day was as beautiful as they could have hoped for. We loved working with Lynn and Brandi, and found them to be the most kind and generous people you’d ever want to meet.

“Lynn, we can all see it in your eyes (and hear it in your prayers) that you would do anything for Brandi. She is your queen, and you are proud to have her. Brandi, you have an amazing wedding gown, but you didn’t worship it. You knew that it might get a little dirty and wrinkly but that there were more important things. We love seeing a bride able to enjoy the wedding day, and you were so relaxed and chill about the whole thing. Way cool!

“But the highlight of our weekend was that we came away from your wedding weekend feeling like we’d just made two new friends. You both truly exhibited that renowned ‘Southern hospitality’, and we thank you for that. God bless you both as you launch into this new life journey… we wish you all the best!”

Also, here is a shortened version of the Motion Picture from their wedding. Motion is an add-on we’ve been featuring since the Spring of 2009, and we LOVE it! We capture HD video during your wedding day, as well as photography, and mesh it all together, add some sweet music and you’ve got a wedding video you’ll want to watch again and again. There are just some moments of the wedding day that photographs alone don’t quite capture. Photographs create and tell stories, but Motion Picture captures entire moments, creates feeling, and reveals emotion.
Take a look!

Motion Picture is quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of my job! If you’ve been following our work for the past 2 years or so, you might know that Motion is a huge part of our Wedding Photography. Ever since we started photographing weddings, we wanted to incorporate moving pictures with our photography. The very first time we experimented with Motion at a wedding, we were using a cheap camcorder. :) Now, we’re shooting 1080p HD (for you nerds who care) and I’m falling in love with it.

Here’s a teaser preview of the wedding we recently photographed in Alabama. Enjoy!
